»POROUS MATTER«

The body is a repository of evolutionary memories, fossil traces and microbiological histories. Bacteria, fungi and cell colonies shape metabolism, perception and existence – and make the vulnerability of our system palpable in the context of species extinction. What does this understanding mean for our conception of the body and for our existence in the world? The body as a permeable network, as porous matter, is examined, and the city is its landscape in which the connections between microbes, humans and nature can be directly experienced.
